The Soul Train Awards are getting ready to take over Las Vegas for a November 13 taping, and Queen Bey and Mary J.
are leading the charge with seven nominations each.
The awards show, which will feature the best in Hip Hop, R&B, and soul music, will be hosted by comedian Deon Cole and will air on BET on November 27 at 8 p.m. ET.
“Hosting the Soul Train Awards is a dream come true. I grew up watching Soul Train and ‘til this day, I’ve never met a Soul Train Line I didn’t bless with my skilled two steps, "Cole said in a statement. "It is truly an honor to be given this chance to honor Don Cornelius' legacy, the incredible black talent that enlivened our screens on the legendary TV show, and my personal favorite musical genres, Soul, R&B, and Hip Hop."
Ari Lennox has six nominations, Chris Breezy has five, and Lizzo has five, all of which put them behind Beyoncé and Mary J. Blige. Burna Boy and "Bad Habits" singer Steve Lacy, who each have four nominations, are not far behind.
"Deon Cole is known for delivering razor-sharp humor and commentary across his acclaimed standup specials and series," continued BET Executive Vice President Connie Orlando. Get ready to see him unleash his comedic talents like never before on the Soul Train Awards stage. "
