Controversial social media activist, VeryDarkMan, has alleged that embattled rapper Naira Marley confessed to owing his late former signee, Mohbad, a significant sum of money before the singer's untimely demise.
Mohbad, who tragically passed away in September 2023, had earlier severed ties with Naira Marley’s Marlian Music. His departure reportedly stemmed from allegations that the label failed to honor their contractual obligations.
The circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s death stirred widespread controversy, with fingers pointing at Naira Marley and his associate, Sam Larry. A viral video showing Sam Larry assaulting the late artist further fueled public suspicion. Both Naira Marley and Sam Larry were arraigned on October 6, 2023, for alleged involvement in the case. Despite pleading not guilty and securing bail, public backlash has persisted, with many fans boycotting Naira Marley's music.
In a viral video ahead of Mohbad’s 28th posthumous birthday, VeryDarkMan disclosed a private conversation with Naira Marley. The activist claimed he encouraged the rapper to use his platform to address the allegations and present his side of the story.
“I asked Naira Marley why he hasn’t shared evidence to clear his name,” VeryDarkMan said. “He admitted owing Mohbad a considerable amount of money and explained their fallout. According to him, their conflict began when Mohbad started working outside the label’s contract and demanded a change in management. I urged him to explain this to Nigerians, but he refused, saying, ‘God will fight my battles.’”
The controversy continues to dominate social media discussions, with fans calling for justice and transparency in Mohbad’s case.
