Famous Nigerian rappers and activists, Folarin Falana, popularly known as Falz the bad guy, have announced the winners of the Mr.
Yakubu Challenge.
Recall that the singer and colleague, Olanrewaju Ogunmefun, better known by his stage name Vector, had in March released their latest song, titled after the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Mr. Yakubu, to express their views about the just concluded 2023 elections.
The song, however, triggered the Mr. Yakubu Challenge on the internet. Many Nigerians, including celebrities, showcased their singing skills by singing their favorite verses.
Falz had Last week, he announced that he would be joining forces with Vector to release an extended remix version of Mr. Yakubu, stating that the top three entries will feature in his upcoming project.
Announcing the winners on Saturday on his Instagram page, Falz said he had underestimated the challengers and had now become too dope to be ignored, as he stretched the number to 10.
He wrote: “We initially announced that there would be three winners from the challenge." Later, we realized that was an underestimate. There are too many dope entries that we cannot ignore, so we decided to stretch that number to 10! Even this was tough.
”All winners would be featured on the extended remix version of Mr. Yakubu. One of the tracks on the Falz x VEC collaboration project is dropping in a bit.”
