Wap (real name Willie Junior Maxwell) was detained at the Rolling Loud Festival in New York in October.
He was later charged with taking part in a plot to smuggle large quantities of heroin, fentanyl, and other drugs into the New York City area.
Maxwell entered a not guilty plea at the time, but The Washington Post reported on Monday (August 21) that Maxwell had entered a guilty plea to one count of conspiracy to possess and distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine.
Maxwell's attorney allegedly stated that his client "is not cooperating (with federal authorities)" before making it clear that "this is a standard plea," according to a New York Post reporter outside the courthouse.
Although Fetty Wap's estimated sentencing guidelines range between seven and nine years, the charge carries a mandatory minimum sentence of five years and a maximum sentence of forty years in prison. Maxwell is currently being detained in jail, and a sentencing date has not been specified.
