Nigerian singer Tiwa Savage recently opened up about the intense criticism she faced for her "sexy" fashion choices early in her career.
In an interview with Kiss FM UK, Savage shared how she was also targeted for her "risky" lyrics as a young artist. Despite the backlash, she has remained a strong figure in the industry.
Savage expressed her admiration for Ayra Starr, who continues to thrive on the global music scene despite facing similar criticisms from Nigerians about her style. Savage's own experiences have fueled her obsession with Starr's resilience and success.
Savage said, “I love Ayra [Starr]. I’m obsessed with her. She’s amazing and genuine, too. It makes me emotional because when I started, I got criticised a lot for dressing too sexy and my lyrics being too risky.
“So, seeing someone, Ayra now…If I see her wearing the short skirts as they [critics] say, I’m like, ‘Make it shorter.’
“And she looks amazing, she’s extremely talented. Yeah, she’s a star.”
