Renowned Nollywood actor Ibrahim Chatta has refuted the perception that he is underrated in the Nigerian movie industry.

In a recent appearance on the Talk To B podcast, the Nupe-born star proudly declared his standing as one of the highest-paid Yoruba-speaking actors in Nigeria.

“Many people claim Ibrahim Chatta is underrated, but that’s not true. I’m among the top-earning Yoruba-speaking actors in the country,” he stated confidently.

Chatta shared insights into his journey to fame, recalling his humble beginnings as a “studio rat.” Before becoming a household name, he worked tirelessly, producing promotional jingles and composing movie soundtracks.

“I took on responsibilities early because I knew they’d make me stronger,” he revealed. “There was a time I told my mother not to worry about sending me foodstuff because I was ‘comfortable.’ But the truth was, I wasn’t. I worked as a bus conductor for weeks just to make ends meet.”
His determination soon paid off, as he delved into writing and composing soundtracks for over 400 films and promotional jingles for over 400 firms.
“At that time, I wasn’t recognized as an actor. I had studios in Ikeja and other locations, writing songs, performing, and doing soundtracks,” Chatta recounted. “I lived and breathed the studio life—it shaped who I am today.”

Ibrahim Chatta’s inspiring journey from a struggling artist to a celebrated actor highlights his resilience and talent, solidifying his position as a Nollywood icon.
