Ramon Abbas, better known by his online handle Hushpuppi, has had his verified Instagram account deactivated.
Currently, Hushpuppi is being tried in the US for fraud-related offenses.
Recall that Hushpuppi was detained in Dubai in June 2020 for alleged internet fraud by a joint team of the Dubai Police and the US Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Later on, Hushpuppi was extradited to the US, where he was accused of numerous offenses including hacking, impersonation, scamming, banking fraud, and identity theft.
Hushpuppi was detained and put on trial, but Instagram still allowed him to upload and share content as long as he didn't advocate for any harmful entities or people.
The social media site, however, appears to have reconsidered its choice to keep Hushpuppi's account active.
