Don Jazzy, a well-known alter ego of veteran Nigerian music producer Michael Collins Ajereh, has exhorted Nigerian musicians to use Davido's promotional strategy as a model.
According to The Daily Post, Davido has been touring the country with a media tour in support of his recently released fourth studio album, "Timeless."
Don Jazzy encouraged other Nigerian acts to follow in the singer's footsteps while praising his music promotion strategies for his most recent album.
The head of Marvin claimed that despite being an established artist, Davido didn't take it easy and is actively promoting his album.
In a tweet on Monday, Don Jazzy wrote, “Dear artists, I hope you can see how Davido is marketing his album." He didn’t say, Oh, I’m OBO, so everybody will cop my sh*t. "Marketing your beautiful project that you worked hard on does not reduce your swag.”
The Daily Post reported that Davido’s ‘Timeless’ has been breaking streaming records since its release, including the highest charting album by an African artist on US Apple Music (it peaked at Number 2), the first African album to reach Number 1 on the US iTunes Albums Chart, and the biggest album first-day streams in the history of Audiomack.
