Nigerian musician Adedamola Adefolahan, better known by his stage name Fireboy DML, has admitted that his father made him sign a contract before he was allowed to leave school and move to Lagos.
The singer of "Vibration" said this when discussing how he began his career in music as a studio errand boy with Zeze Millz.
Fireboy asserted that his increased time spent in the studio as a "studio rat" was having an impact on his academic performance.
He acknowledged that after some time, the heads of the music business recognized his writing talent, which is how he began penning songs for artists.
Later, Fireboy revealed to his father his plans to leave school in his final year and move to Lagos.
He thought it odd that his father did not object, but instead made him promise to always follow his instructions and, after two years, to comply if he didn't blow.
