"Portable" Habeeb, the contentious musician Okikiola, has sided with one party in the most recent online altercation between Seun Kuti and Peter Okoye.
Peter was criticized by Portable on his Instagram page on Wednesday for "insulting Fela's family," according to Portable.
This all started when Seun Kuti, the Afrobeats singer and son of Fela, called the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, an "opportunist." This angered Peter, who retorted with an equally strong response, calling out Seun Kuti and dragging the Kuti family into the fray—including Fela and his nephew, Made.
Portable was obviously not happy with Peter and the way he handled the situation, and so he accused Peter of insulting Fela’s family. He expressed his disappointment at the situation, noting that Peter’s own family is still alive, yet he chose to drag Fela and his family’s name through the mud. He also pointed out that Fela’s family is no longer in the limelight and that they do not deserve to be dragged into such heated online debates.
In conclusion, it is clear that Portable chose to side with Seun Kuti in this online brawl. He expressed his disappointment at Peter’s commentary and reminded him that Fela and his family are no longer in the public eye. This is a great reminder to all of us that we need to respect the privacy and reputations of those who are no longer in the limelight and that we should not drag them into our online debates.
He said, “I go by name, portable of Africa, Anikuleti, Young Fela." Ogun kill you, You say wetin. I hear say you dey insult Fela Kuti, You wey be say you and your family still dey alive and una no still blow”.
