Veteran Nollywood actress Uche Jombo has expressed concern over the Independent National Electoral Commission's (INEC) declaration of Bola Tinubu as the winner of the 2023 presidential election.
The actress was shocked that the electoral umpire continued with the process despite video and photographic evidence of alleged fraud and electoral malpractices across the nation.
A wide range of alleged election rigging and suppression of the true will of the people by governors and politicians across the nation have prompted calls for the cancellation of the 2023 presidential election.
However, in the wee hours of Wednesday, Mahmood Yakubu, the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, declared Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, the victor of the elections.
Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and Peter Obi of the Labour Party, LP, who scored 6,984,520 and 6,101,533, respectively, were Tinubu's closest competitors and PDP candidates, according to Yakubu.
“When some people say, "My vote doesn’t count," this is what they mean. Truly alarming with videos and pictures in polling units across Nigeria, we still got here," she tweeted.
“This shouldn’t discourage anyone. A New Nigeria is possible, as we can clearly see.”
Tinubu was handed his Certificate of Return by the INEC on Wednesday.
