Nigerian Afrobeats sensation, Rema, made headlines at the 2024 Dreamville Festival in North Carolina with a stunning moment during his performance on Sunday.

While delivering his hit track 'Calm Down' on Day 2 of the festival at Raleigh's Dix Park, Rema unexpectedly halted his performance due to sound quality issues. Expressing frustration, he emphasized the need for African artists to receive the same level of sound quality as their Western counterparts on international stages.

In his candid statement, Rema stated, "Hold on, there are too many sound issues. It’s messing up my whole performance. I’m seriously not feeling this sht. I’m representing Africa, this is too messed up. If the sound cannot be perfect for every artist that gets on this stage… Africa is in the house and you are messing sht up?”

The Dreamville Festival, founded by American hip-hop icon J. Cole, witnessed this moment of advocacy for better sound production for African artists.
