Following the cancellation of his global tour last month, Shawn Mendes has provided a brief update on his mental health, telling fans that he is "just taking it easy.
"
Mendes canceled three weeks' worth of North American performances at the beginning of July, claiming the need to put his mental health first.
He said: "I've been touring since I was 15 and to be honest, it's always been challenging to be on the road away from friends and family." in a personal message posted on social media. I thought I was ready to get back on the road after a few years off, but that decision was made too soon, and now I've reached my breaking point due to the pressure and the cost of the road."
After speaking with my team and health professionals, I need to take some time to heal and take care of myself and my mental health, first and foremost. As soon as there are more updates I promise I will let you know.”
The Ontario singer-songwriter would later cancel the remainder of his ‘Wonderworld tour – which was scheduled to span 87 dates over the next 10 months – explaining at the end of last month that he “wasn’t prepared for the toll that being back on the road would take”.
