Controversial Nigerian singer Azeez Adeshina Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, has distanced himself from the world’s deadliest terrorist group, the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, or ISIS.
The ‘I Am A Yahoo Boy’ crooner said that though he is a Muslim, Islamic State does not represent him or his religion.
Naira Marley, who is currently observing Ramadan, tweeted on Tuesday: “I am a Muslim, but ISIS does not represent me or my religion.”
The singer once influenced a cult-like movement called “Marlians.” His followers at that time were known for their wayward clothing and crazy lifestyles.
However, there was no report of violence by his cult-like fanbase.
The movement began to decline after Naira Marley’s fame and influence dwindled.
Marley now uses his social media pages to preach about religion and morality.
