In a somber ceremony, popular Nigerian Islamic singer, Rukayat Gawat Oyefeso, was buried in Ijebu yesterday, following her death earlier that morning.
Known for her captivating voice and spiritual music that resonated deeply within the Muslim community, her passing has left many in mourning.
The news of her death was first announced by Ilorin-based cleric, Alfa Aribidesi At-Tawdeeh Islamic Da’awah, via his official Facebook page on Tuesday. The announcement quickly spread across social media, with fans and well-wishers expressing their grief.
Rukayat, whose father has been missing for over 12 years, is survived by her husband, Oyefeso, and their three children. Before her death, she lived with her family in the Ogudu area of Lagos State. The cause of her death has been linked to an undisclosed illness, with reports indicating that she had been ill for several weeks before her passing.
Her burial followed Islamic rites, and her loss is felt deeply across the Islamic music community.
