Rising South African singer Tyla has named Nigerian Grammy-award-winning singer Tems, the late American King of Pop, Michael Jackson, and Barbadian-American singer Rihanna as her mentors.
She said the trio inspired her to become a musician.
She disclosed this in a video posted on Tiktok recently.
Tyla said, “Michael Jackson, Rihanna, and Tems! Tems is a good inspiration.”
She also disclosed that Wizkid, Rema, and Ayra Starr are the most popular Afrobeats artists in South Africa.
She said, “The Afrobeats artists that people listened to the most in South Africa are Wizkid, Rema, and Ayra Starr. We listen to literally every kind of artist. Also obviously, the global stars, such as Drake, We listen to all.”
