Nigerian music star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has shared his perspective on cannabis, commonly referred to as weed, stating that he does not classify it as a hard drug.
In a recent episode of The Morning Hustle podcast, the award-winning singer discussed his foundation’s upcoming charitable efforts, including donations to orphanages and initiatives to combat drug abuse among youths. Addressing critics who labeled him a hypocrite for advocating against drug abuse while using weed, Davido emphasized his distinction between cannabis and harder substances.
He said:
“This year, I’m contributing to the fight against drug abuse among youths. I don’t count weed as a hard drug. Some people criticize me for smoking weed, but I don’t see it as a drug.”
Highlighting the rising prevalence of drug addiction, Davido expressed concern for the struggles faced by many individuals and reaffirmed his commitment to supporting rehabilitation efforts:
“A lot of people are going through tough times, and drug addiction is becoming more common. I want to donate to this cause to help them quit.”
