The Israeli government has announced the escalation of military force against Hamas following a stalemate in talks on additional hostage releases.
Isreal accused Hamas of refusing to free the remaining captives and rejecting offers from the United States presidential envoy Steve Witkoff and mediators.
“From now on, Israel will act against Hamas with increasing military force,” said a statement by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office.
The Monday night update confirmed that the military is “currently attacking targets of the Hamas terrorist organization throughout the Gaza Strip.”
Israel expressed its determination to achieve the war goals, “including the release of all our hostages – living and dead.”
After the renewal of bombardments, Defense Minister Israel Katz said “the gates of hell will open in Gaza and Hamas’ murderers and rapists will meet the IDF with force they have never known before.”
The strikes continued Tuesday morning and have now killed at least 200 people, Gaza health ministry spokesperson Khalil Al-Deqran told Reuters.
