A sizable U.

S. Navy surveillance plane, carrying nine crew members, overshot its runway and ended up in the water. Fortunately, military officials reported that there were no casualties in the crash.

The incident involved a P-8A Poseidon aircraft, a prominent Navy surveillance jet with the airframe resembling that of a Boeing 737 passenger plane. The mishap occurred on Monday around 1:57 p.m. when the plane overshot the runway and landed in Kaneohe Bay off Marine Corps Base Hawaii on the island of Oahu.

Despite the dramatic nature of the crash water landing, all nine crew members managed to escape the aircraft safely. The plane was observed sitting upright in the bay, prompting swift responses from emergency personnel.

Marine Maj. Jordan Fox, a spokesperson for the base, provided reassurance, stating, "All nine passengers aboard the aircraft at the time of the incident are accounted for, and no injuries are reported."

The Navy's P-8A Poseidon is known for its surveillance capabilities and is equipped with advanced technology. Marine Corps spokesperson 1st Lt. Hailey Harms confirmed the nature of the aircraft, describing it as a surveillance jet with the airframe of a Boeing 737 passenger plane.

As investigations into the incident are likely underway, this serves as a testament to the training and preparedness of the crew, ensuring that even in challenging situations, their safety remains a top priority. The incident also highlights the resilience of military aircraft in emergency situations, showcasing the effectiveness of safety protocols in averting potential tragedies.
