A police officer met a tragic end allegedly at the hands of his wife in Kiplombe, Baringo County, Kenya.
Officer Vincent Kipterim Kiprotich, aged 28 and attached to the Critical Infrastructure Protection Unit (CIPU) in Mandera County, was reportedly attacked with a machete by his wife, ZamZam Bashir, aged 26.
Confirming the incident, Baringo Police Commander Julius Kiragu revealed that Officer Kipterim was on leave at the time of the altercation. The tragic incident unfolded when Kipterim arrived home around 3 am on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, leading to a heated argument with his wife.
According to Kiragu, the altercation escalated, resulting in Bashir allegedly stabbing her husband with a machete. Subsequently, Bashir went to report the incident to the deceased's brother.
"The officer was on leave, he came home late, a quarrel erupted leading to the deceased being stabbed by his wife. He was rushed to Eldama Ravine Sub County Hospital but succumbed to the injuries," Kiragu stated.
In response to the incident, authorities swiftly arrested Bashir, and investigations have been launched to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the tragic event.
The body of Officer Kipterim has been transferred to Eldama Ravine Morgue, where it awaits a postmortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.
The heartbreaking incident has sent shockwaves through the community, prompting calls for justice and renewed efforts to address issues of domestic violence.
