Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has firmly rejected calls for an immediate ceasefire in the ongoing war with Russia, emphasizing that ending hostilities without clear security guarantees would be a “failure for everyone.
”
According to the Financial Times, Zelenskyy stressed the importance of lasting security measures, stating, “If you don’t have an end to the war and you don’t have security guarantees, no one is able to control a ceasefire.” His remarks came during a significant meeting with over a dozen European leaders, where discussions centered on Ukraine’s path forward.
This development follows recent tensions at the White House, which reportedly surprised U.S. allies. Despite the challenges, Ukraine remains committed to strengthening its partnerships. Zelenskyy later announced on X that Ukraine is prepared to sign a minerals agreement with the United States, reinforcing economic and strategic ties.
As the war between Ukraine and Russia enters its third year, both nations have suffered significant casualties. However, Zelensky’s latest stance signals Ukraine’s determination to secure lasting peace on its own terms.
