Saudi Arabia has praised the recent phone call between U.
S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, expressing support for a possible meeting between the two leaders in the Kingdom.
According to Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, arranging a face-to-face meeting in Riyadh could take several months. This follows Trump and Putin’s conversation on Wednesday, during which they agreed on the need for direct talks.
Notably, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman was the first foreign leader Trump called upon taking office. The U.S. President has since described him as “a fantastic guy,” a sentiment he reiterated during a virtual address at the World Economic Forum in Davos.
Putin, who visited Saudi Arabia and the UAE in 2023, previously acknowledged the Crown Prince’s role in facilitating the largest U.S.-Russia prisoner swap since the Cold War.
As diplomatic momentum builds, a high-profile Trump-Putin summit in Riyadh could mark a significant milestone in global geopolitics.
