In a tragic turn of events, the Sango Area of Ibadan has been rocked by a bomb explosion, resulting in the loss of two lives and significant property damage.

The explosion sent shock waves across the entire Ibadan metropolis, leaving residents in distress.

Eyewitness accounts describe the blast as having a profound impact on buildings in the ancient city. Concerns over the incident prompted a swift response from the state government, as outlined in a statement released by the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Prince Dotun Oyelade, on Monday.

According to Oyelade's statement, Governor Seyi Makinde has taken decisive steps to address the aftermath of the explosion. Security service chiefs, including para-military leaders and Fire Operatives, have been mobilized and deployed to contain the spillover effects and mitigate further damage.

The commissioner's statement conveyed, “Residents of Ibadan and immediate environ experienced an uncommon explosion about 8 pm this evening. There are various interpretations of the incident, but it is important for us to state categorically that the state government has taken over and is in full control of the unfortunate occurrence in order to mitigate the incident."

Governor Makinde, deeply concerned about the welfare of citizens, has reassured the public through the statement. "His Excellency Governor Seyi Makinde, therefore, implores citizens to calm down and be rest assured that their interests are being looked after."

As investigations unfold to determine the cause of the explosion and assess the extent of the damage, the state government's proactive measures aim to restore order and provide support to those affected by this tragic incident in the Sango Area of Ibadan.
