This failure catalysed the employees’ decision to take to the streets to display their anger and dissatisfaction.

In an attempt to quell the protest, Yale management sought assistance from the police and civil defence forces. Unfortunately, the presence of law enforcement only served to escalate tensions further. The situation deteriorated into violence when the police allegedly fired shots to disperse the protesters.
