The Peoples Democratic Party, or PDP, has refuted suggestions that Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike intends to leave the party.

Wike is a significant and devoted party member, according to Debo Ologunagba, the PDP's national publicity secretary.

In Ologunagba's opinion, the governor had too much invested in the PDP to consider leaving it.

Since Atiku Abubakar won the PDP's presidential primary and became the party's nominee, Wike has felt betrayed.

The governor is believed to be aggrieved that Atiku ignored him and picked Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State as his running mate.

He has been associating with chieftains of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

This led to the belief that Wike may dump the PDP or work against the party in 2023.

However, Ologunagba, in a statement, said: “Governor Wike is an important member of this party. He is a man who has invested so much in this party. He is a man who has also harvested so much from the party; the party has also promoted him."
He has said in so many forums that he is a committed party man and has remained loyal to the party since its inception.
“Before the presidential primaries, which he contested, he told the whole world that he was ready to respect the outcome of the elections." I have no evidence that he has changed his mind. "
