No fewer than twenty-nine individuals suspected of affiliating with the Yoruba Nation movement found themselves before an Ibadan Chief Magistrate Court on Wednesday.

Their appearance in court stemmed from their alleged involvement in the thwarted attempt to invade the Oyo State Government Secretariat on Saturday, April 13.

The arraignment saw the suspects facing a seven-count charge, including accusations of treasonable felony, participation in an unlawful society, illegal possession of firearms, going armed, and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace.

Bakare Rasaq, an Inspector from the State Criminal Investigation Department in Iyaganku, Ibadan, serving as the Investigative Police Officer, shed light on the charges. He emphasized that the offenses levied against the suspects are in violation of Section 516 of the Criminal Code, Cap 38, Vol.II, Laws of Oyo State of Nigeria, 2000, and carry significant penalties.

The legal proceedings, under case number Mi/520c/2024, pit the Commissioner of Police against the twenty-nine accused individuals. As the judicial process unfolds, it underscores the commitment of law enforcement agencies to uphold the rule of law and maintain public order in Oyo State.

Stay tuned as we follow this legal saga and provide updates on the outcome of the court proceedings.
