The spokesperson for the Labour Party Obi-Datti Presidential Campaign during the 2023 Presidential Election, Barrister Okonkwo has withdrew his support from the purported action of Peter Obi who endorsed the crisis driven Abure led leadership of the party.
Okonkwo announced that he is severing all ties with the Abure-led National Working Committee of the Labour Party. He expressed his unwavering commitment to a vision of a new Nigeria, stating, "For me, it's either a new Nigeria or nothing. I prefer to lose doing the right thing to winning doing the wrong thing." He firmly believes that the alleged criminality, corruption, and incompetence associated with the National Convention organized by Abure cannot be overlooked or justified.
Reflecting on his political journey, Okonkwo highlighted his departure from the ruling party APC due to concerns about incompetence and dishonesty. He emphasized that his decision to leave was rooted in a desire for integrity and effective governance. Okonkwo lamented that joining the current Abure-led National Working Committee of the Labour Party has brought him into another association marred by the same issues he sought to escape. He remains steadfast in his pursuit of genuine change and reform in Nigeria’s political landscape.
It will be recalled that Peter Obi visited the headquarter of the Labour party yesterday in Abuja to solidify his support for the Abure led adminstration.
