Chief Johnny Chukwudi Metchie, the president general of the Umueri community in Anambra State, has refuted rumors that herdsmen broke into his community.

In a social media video that has gone viral, a man claims that gunmen who may have been Fulani herdsmen attacked the Umueri community.

However, Metchie issued a press release on Thursday that he personally signed warning against disseminating untrue information that could incite conflict between Fulani herders and community members.

Additionally, he issued a warning against spreading false information, particularly to a man going by the name of Delight.

He claims that preliminary investigations by the police and the neighborhood watch group have shown that the deceased was not killed by Fulani as Delight claimed in the video.

Please disregard all information provided by that person who asserts that the victim was murdered by Fulani men because, according to our preliminary investigation and the police's, which resulted in a confession from one of the murderers captured by Umueri vigilante men, the victim was not murdered by the Fulani herdsmen.

But instead of waiting for a confirmed report from the people who are handling the case, someone chose to act silly, with the aim of provoking a crisis between Igbos and the Fulanis in Igboland. This is unacceptable, "he added.
