A wave of terror engulfed the Amegu Nkalaha community in Ishielu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State as suspected herdsmen launched a deadly attack, killing several residents and leaving many others injured.

The assailants, armed with cutlasses and guns, stormed the village in the early hours of Sunday, unleashing chaos and destruction. Eyewitness reports confirm that numerous houses were set ablaze, forcing terrified residents to flee for safety.

While the exact death toll remains uncertain, the Chairman of Ishielu LGA, Mrs. Ifeoma Agwu, confirmed that evacuation efforts were ongoing. “We are currently moving victims’ bodies to the mortuary. More details will be provided later,” she stated.

Amegu Nkalaha native and former ASUU Chairman at Ebonyi State University, Professor Ndubuisi Idenyi, also confirmed the attack. “My village was attacked today by herdsmen. Many have been killed, and houses burnt. What a black Sunday!” he lamented.

Reports suggest that some victims were attacked on their farms, making it difficult to determine the full extent of the casualties. As investigations continue, residents are calling for urgent security intervention to prevent further bloodshed.
