In a coordinated operation, troops from Sector 2 (EBONYI) of the Joint Task Force South East Operation UDO KA, alongside personnel from the Nigerian Police Force (NPF), Department of State Services (DSS), and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), executed a raid on the camp of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and their armed affiliate, the Eastern Security Network (ESN).

Acting on actionable intelligence, the operation took place on Thursday, March 21, 2024, targeting the Mgbalukwu camp situated in Inyimagu, Izzi Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.

During the operation, troops engaged with the terrorists, resulting in the neutralization of one IPOB member, while others managed to evade capture by fleeing into nearby forests. Notable items seized during the raid include an AK-47 rifle, two AK-47 magazines, 54 rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition, and three stolen Sienna buses.

Major General HT Dada, the Force Commander of Joint Task Force South Operation UDO KA, expressed appreciation for the effective collaboration among the troops and various security agencies involved in the operation. He underscored the importance of such synergy in tackling security threats and maintaining peace and stability in the region.

In light of these developments, Major General Dada called upon law-abiding citizens of the South East region to remain vigilant and proactive in providing timely and credible information to security agencies. He encouraged the public to utilize the Emergency Line 193, with an option to speak directly to a call center representative, as a means of contributing to ongoing efforts to combat criminal activities and safeguard communities.

The successful raid serves as a testament to the commitment of security forces in addressing threats posed by insurgent groups and upholding the security and well-being of the populace. As efforts persist to maintain peace and security in the region, collaboration and vigilance remain paramount in confronting emerging challenges and ensuring a safe environment for all.
