The Rivers State House of Assembly's Clerk, Emeka Amadi, has distanced himself from the pro-Governor Sim Fubara faction of the Assembly.
Amadi reaffirmed that Martin Amaewhule remains the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly.
Emphasizing his stance, the clerk noted that the three assembly members aligned with Fubara—Hon. Victor Oko Jumbo, Hon. Sokari Goodboy Sokari, and Hon. Adolphus Orubimie Timothy—were suspended on October 30, 2023. Therefore, they cannot lay claim to being officers of the House.
In a recent development, Jumbo was appointed as the new Speaker of the Assembly by some lawmakers on Thursday.
