In a recent development, the Rapid Response Squad of the Lagos State Police Command has apprehended a 24-year-old Nigerien national, Seidu Ali, on allegations of pilfering electrical cables.

The arrest transpired on the bustling Third Mainland Bridge during a routine patrol conducted by the RRS operatives on Wednesday.

The Lagos State Police Command shared this information on its official Twitter handle, emphasizing the incident involving the young suspect. According to the tweet posted on Thursday, the RRS team, around 1 pm, nabbed Seidu Ali, recovering four tightly bound strands of electrical cables from his possession.

Remarkably, this wasn't Ali's first encounter with law enforcement. The tweet reveals that this arrest marked the second time within a span of three weeks that he was apprehended for similar offenses. His previous encounter involved an attempt to steal cables on the same Third Mainland Bridge, and on this occasion, the RRS operatives once again recovered four bound strands of cables from him.

The Commander of the RRS, Olayinka Egbeyemi, has reportedly directed that immediate legal action be taken against the suspect. This incident sheds light on the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to curb criminal activities, particularly those related to theft and vandalism of public infrastructure.
