A tragic accident occurred on Wednesday when a commercial vehicle, commonly known as a Danfo, crashed on the bustling Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos.

Confirming the incident, Mr. Ibrahim Farinloye, the Lagos Territorial Coordinator of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), revealed that the force of the collision threw two adult passengers off the 18-seater bus and into the Lagos lagoon.

Farinloye stated that the Marine Police have initiated a search operation for the missing passengers, a male and a female, who were ejected from the bus during the accident.

The crash, involving a bus with the registration number FKJ 872 YA, occurred near the Adeniyi Adele axis, heading towards Lagos Island.

According to Farinloye, the driver of the vehicle was reportedly speeding when he lost control and collided with the bridge rails, causing the passengers to be forcefully propelled into the lagoon.

He further added that the injured individuals have been swiftly transported to a nearby hospital for medical attention.

This tragic incident serves as a reminder of the importance of road safety and the need for drivers to adhere to speed limits and exercise caution while driving, particularly on busy bridges and highways.
