Chevron Nigeria Limited has announced the appointment of Jim Swartz as its new Chairman and Managing Director, as disclosed in a statement released by the firm's General Manager, Policy, Government, and Public Affairs, Esimaje Brikinn, on Wednesday.

According to the statement, Jim Swartz will assume the role of Chairman and Managing Director of Chevron Nigeria/Mid-Africa Business Unit, effective April 1, 2024. Swartz, who previously held the position of Vice President, Capital Projects based in Houston, USA, brings a wealth of experience in the upstream business to his new role.

A graduate of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a Bachelor of Science in Geology, Swartz furthered his education with a Master of Science in Geology from the University of Oklahoma. Having joined Chevron in 1990 as a Geologist in Louisiana, he has since demonstrated a remarkable career progression, holding positions of increasing responsibility in Angola and the United States.

Jim Swartz takes over the reins from Richard (Rick) Kennedy, who has chosen to retire after an illustrious career spanning almost four decades of dedicated service to the company. This transition marks a significant milestone for Chevron Nigeria Limited, and the company expresses confidence in Swartz's capabilities to lead the organization into a new era of success.
