In the early hours of Monday, tragedy struck the Yola Town Market as a devastating fire ravaged through the market, leaving many shops destroyed and traders grappling with significant losses in Yola South Local Government Area of Adamawa State.

The Deputy Governor of the state, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, visited the scene of the inferno Monday morning to assess the situation and offer reassurance to the affected traders. While the exact cause of the fire remains unknown, Farauta pledged government support to the affected traders and vowed to investigate the incident.

Expressing sympathy for those affected, Farauta emphasized the government's commitment to providing assistance to mitigate their losses. Despite the uncertainty surrounding the number of affected traders, she assured that the government would take measures to alleviate their suffering.

Acknowledging the magnitude of the tragedy, Farauta urged traders to prioritize safety measures, including ensuring access roads for emergency situations like fire outbreaks.

Meanwhile, Umar Abubakar, a leader among the traders, appealed to the government for support, highlighting the severe impact of the fire on their livelihoods. According to Abubakar, the fire erupted around 2 am, catching many traders unaware as they slept.

One affected trader, Saidu Musa, lamented the intensity of the inferno, which left nothing salvageable in his shop, underscoring the devastating toll of the disaster.

As the community grapples with the aftermath of the fire, efforts are underway to assess the extent of the damage and provide assistance to the affected traders. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of fire safety measures and the need for collective support in times of crisis.
