Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umar Bago, has offered reassurance to residents farming on untended government lands, affirming they won't face eviction.

During an inspection of government lands along Mokwa road in Mokwa, Bago emphasized his administration's unwavering commitment to its food security agenda. He stressed the imperative of utilizing all government-owned lands for agricultural purposes.

Bago assured farmers on government lands that instead of eviction, they will receive enhanced support. He explained that the government aims to cultivate all available lands for farming, ensuring sustainable agricultural development.

Under this initiative, individuals currently farming on government lands won't be displaced. In fact, they may receive expanded land allocations. For instance, if someone is currently farming on one hectare, the government might allocate ten hectares for their use.

Additionally, Governor Bago pledged free distribution of seedlings and fertilizers to further bolster agricultural productivity and support the state's food security objectives.
