The Adamawa State Police Command recently apprehended four individuals suspected of hijacking a tricycle owned by Nuhu Muhammed, a commercial tricyclist in Yola, the state capital.

According to a press release from the Command’s spokesperson, SP Suleiman Nguroje, the suspects—Abdullahi Yusuf (22), Umar Yahaya (20), Hassan Ishaka (24), and Shuaibu Abubakar (19)—residents of Kwabura village in Hawal Local Government Area, Borno State, were detained on Sunday.

Nguroje stated, “On April 7th, 2024, at about 0600hrs, Nuhu Muhammed, a tricyclist, raised alarm along Jimeta-Mubi Bridge after being attacked and robbed of his tricycle.” Investigations revealed that the suspects pretended to be passengers, directing Muhammed to a specific location in Viniklang, Girei Local Government Area. However, upon reaching the bridge, they assaulted Muhammed, threatened him with weapons, and stole the tricycle.

Thanks to a prompt response from the Jimeta Division patrol team, the suspects were apprehended, and the tricycle was recovered. The incident underscores the importance of vigilance and cooperation between law enforcement and the community in combating crime.
