In a disturbing turn of events, four unidentified students from Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, have been apprehended by the police for their alleged involvement in the fatal beating of a fellow student.

The incident, which occurred penultimate week in a private hostel outside the university premises, has left the KWASU community in shock and sorrow.

According to reliable information gathered by Vanguard Correspondent, the arrested students faced police action on Wednesday, shedding light on an incident that transpired when the victim, whose identity remains unknown at this time, was reportedly filming the four students without their consent.

The fatal altercation unfolded when the victim, recording the four students engaged in discussion, was noticed by one of them. In response to the perceived intrusion of privacy, the four students confronted the victim, seeking an explanation for his actions. Allegedly unable to provide a satisfactory response, the situation escalated, and the four enraged students physically assaulted the victim.

An anonymous source revealed to Vanguard Correspondent, "The victim later died from the severity of the beating meted out to him by the students." The tragic outcome has sent shockwaves through the university community, prompting concerns about the safety and well-being of students within and outside the campus.

State Police Public Relations Officer, Toun Ejire-Adeyemi (DSP), confirmed the incident late Thursday night, stating, "The alleged culprits were four, but I cannot confirm their names now. They have been arrested while an investigation is still ongoing over the matter."

The incident raises questions about student safety and underscores the importance of addressing conflicts through non-violent means. As the investigation unfolds, the KWASU community awaits more information and hopes for justice to be served for the untimely loss of a fellow student. The tragedy serves as a somber reminder of the need for a peaceful and respectful campus environment where conflicts can be resolved without resorting to violence.
