Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State emphasized his commitment to transparency and accountability during his tenure as the state's accountant-general.
Speaking at the inauguration of the Egbeda internal roads on Tuesday, Fubara clarified that all his actions were based on official approvals and meticulous record-keeping and he duly followed the order of his now embattled godfather, Nyeson Wike.
Earlier this month, Fubara announced the formation of a judicial panel of inquiry to investigate the management of the state's resources and affairs under his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, who now serves as the minister of the federal capital territory (FCT). Fubara, who served as the accountant-general under Wike, was declared wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in May 2022 over an alleged N435 billion fraud. Despite these allegations, Fubara remains confident and unafraid, asserting that he has documented evidence to support his actions.
"What we bring to our people is service delivery at record time and cost-effective. Everything we are doing is in my white paper. I carry it along. There is no issue of any manipulation. Call me any day, any time it is there," Fubara stated.
He assured the public that he has kept comprehensive records of all his governmental activities, emphasizing the importance of record-keeping in public service. "Even the ones I did before this time, I still have all the records. If you call me any day, I will bring my records of all my activities in government. I know that, as a civil servant, what is most important is record-keeping," Fubara added.
