The Katsina state police command has announced a restriction on movement from 6 AM to 4 PM to ensure a peaceful and orderly electoral process, ahead of Saturday’s Local Government elections in the state.

The restriction was disclosed in a statement issued on Thursday by the command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq.

He explained that the measure aims to maintain law and order before, during, and after the polls.

“In light of the upcoming local government election, which is scheduled to take place on Saturday, February 15, 2025, there will be restrictions on the movement of individuals and vehicles from 0600 hrs – 1600 hrs within the state,” the statement read.
“This measure has been put in place to maintain law and order, as well as the security of the electorate to enable them to cast their votes without interference.”
The statement further urged residents and stakeholders to comply with the movement restrictions in the interest of a peaceful and transparent election.
“Adequate security arrangements have been made to enforce the restrictions and to ensure the safety of all voters and election officials,” the police commissioner assured.

He also encouraged eligible voters to turn out in large numbers and exercise their civic responsibility in a peaceful and orderly manner.
