The Organized Private Sector (OPS) has issued a statement expressing concerns over the ability of its members to meet the newly announced N70,000 National Minimum Wage without government support.
This reaction comes in response to President Bola Tinubu’s approval of the increased wage.
Adewale-Smatt Oyerinde, Spokesperson for the OPS and Director General of the Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association (NECA), acknowledged the President's effort in addressing the minimum wage issue. He stated, "While we commend the President for putting to rest the immediate issue of the National Minimum Wage, we also note, most importantly, his commitment to support the sub-nationals and the Organized Private Sector to pay the new wage."
Oyerinde emphasized the necessity of government assistance to ensure that private sector entities can comply with the new wage policy without facing financial strain.
