In a heart-wrenching incident that sent shockwaves across social media, a baby allegedly sold by her maid for N800,000 has been miraculously found in a market in the Shomolu area of Lagos State.
The distressing saga unfolded when an X user, #Dannysleek, took to Twitter to raise an alarm on Saturday, revealing that a maid hired through an agency had absconded with the baby. The maid, identified as Ruth Okezie from Anambra State, reportedly vanished from the home in Shomolu around 2 am on that fateful Saturday.
Following the viral nature of the report on social media, it was later discovered that the maid had been located in Ikorodu, but without the baby. Shockingly, she confessed to selling the baby for a sum of N800,000.
In an update shared on Monday morning via his X handle, the Lagos Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, disclosed that the baby was rescued by the police after being abandoned in Alade Market in the Shomolu area of the state.
Hundeyin stated, “Due to intense manhunt and pressure from the police, the buyer in the early hours of today abandoned the baby in Alade Market, Shomolu. The baby was promptly rescued by the police. The baby has since been handed over to her parents after they positively identified her. Efforts are still on to apprehend the buyer who is currently on the run.”
#Dannysleek also confirmed the joyous news on his X handle, expressing gratitude to the Twitter community for their support. He wrote, “Good news Twitter fam! The baby has been found. Munachimso has been found! She has been reunited with her parents in perfect health! Glory to God forever! Thank you so much Twitter fam for coming through with your retweets! God bless y’all!”
This heartening development marks a positive turn in the ordeal, bringing relief and joy to the baby's family and the concerned social media community. The quest for justice continues as authorities strive to apprehend the buyer and bring them to account for this distressing incident.
