The controversy surrounding the suspension of Kogi Central Senator Natasha Akpoti has drawn international attention, with the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) stepping in to examine the case.

The IPU President, Tulia Ackson, has assured that a fair and transparent review will be conducted, giving both Senator Natasha and the Nigerian Senate a chance to present their sides.

During a recent session, Ackson acknowledged the concerns raised by Senator Natasha but emphasized that due process would be followed.

She stated:

"We have heard the grievances brought forward by our colleague from Nigeria, Senator Natasha. However, as a global institution, we must ensure fairness by also listening to the Senate’s position before making any decisions."

Reiterating the IPU’s commitment to neutrality, Ackson assured members that no biased judgment would be made.

"We have taken note of her concerns, and we will follow due process to ensure fairness to all parties involved."

She also acknowledged that another Nigerian delegate had attempted to speak on the matter but was unable to do so due to time constraints. However, she reassured everyone that the issue would be thoroughly examined.

With the IPU now involved, all eyes are on the Nigerian Senate as the global body prepares to scrutinize the case.
