According to the Kaduna State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), 611 alleged drug traffickers were detained in the state between January and July.
This was revealed to the media on Monday in Kaduna by the agency's state commander, Mr. Umar Adoro.
Out of the 611 suspects, 480 drug users, according to Adoro, had received counseling, rehabilitation, and social integration.
131 people were charged in court, and we managed to get 69 of them convicted. 62 other people are still awaiting trial at the time of the review.
The command also seized illicit drugs during the period under review, including cannabis (3,893.189 kg), cocaine (1.309 kg), heroin (0.097 kg), psychotropic (3,949.63 kg), methamphetamine (0.0147 kg), and Tramadol (1,851.369 kg).
In the time period under review, 3,898,991.552kg of drugs were seized overall, according to Adoro.
In order to help the agency stop the influx and use of hard drugs, he urged the public to be alert to any suspicious movements of goods in their neighborhoods and to provide useful information to the organization.
The commander also appealed to parents to closely observe their wards’ activities.
He reassured the public of NDLEA’s commitment to eradicating illegal drugs from society to the barest minimum.
