A Nigerian actor turned to social media yesterday to express his displeasure after he was allegedly held and extorted by Nigerian police officers.

The Actor claims that the Police officers deemed him a fraudster since his Twitter account differed from his school I.D. card.

Here's how he describes it:

I've just gotten out of police custody and was extorted. They halted my bolt ride at the 3rd mainland bridge, instructing me to log into my school portal after I informed them that I was a student, which I did. They saw my profile after I showed them. They left and proceeded to check my social media. When I checked my Twitter handle, I was confused as to why my name is thespiankadesh (my nickname because I am a true thespian) when my school ID shows Edobor Efosa Clinton (my real name). They accused me of being a con artist. They looked through my WhatsApp messages.

They got into my car and directed the driver to take me to the EFCC office in Ikoyi. When we got close enough, they asked how much I could offer them because it would be worse if I arrived. They advised me to carry 5 million Naira because I would have to spend extra to bail myself out once I arrived at the EFCC office. They inquired how much I had and I answered I didn't have that type of money. I'm not sure how to thread. To cut a long story short, I was robbed of my hard-earned cash. This country will not extinguish my existence. I'm still in a state of shock and pain. It was as if I had been kidnapped.
