The Lagos State Police Command has arrested an unnamed nurse in connection with the death of a 36-year-old woman, identified only as Abiola, following a botched butt-lift procedure.
The tragic incident occurred after the nurse allegedly performed the procedure on the deceased.
The arrest was confirmed by the Lagos State Police spokesman, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, who disclosed that the Maroko Police Division received a report on Tuesday at approximately 11:40 am. The report came from the driver of the deceased, whose identity has not been disclosed.
According to Hundeyin, the driver reported that around 3:00 am on Monday, his employer, who resided in Diamond Estate, Sangotedo-Lekki, requested to be taken to a clinic in Lekki Phase 1 for a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) procedure aimed at enhancing her buttocks.
Upon arrival at the clinic, the owner (whose name has not been released) instructed a nurse to administer the BBL injection. Unfortunately, shortly after the procedure, Abiola became unconscious and began gasping for breath. Despite being rushed to another hospital in Lekki Phase 1 for emergency treatment, she was pronounced dead by the attending doctor.
Following the report, a team of detectives visited the scene. They also inspected and photographed the body at the hospital before it was moved to a public morgue for an autopsy.
SP Hundeyin confirmed that the nurse involved in the procedure has been arrested, and an investigation into the incident is ongoing.
