The Niger State Police Command has arrested three vigilantes in connection with the murder of Mohammed Bello, a 30-year-old man from Awala village, Rijau Local Government Area.
The suspects, identified as Habibu Usman (35), Tanko Abara (25), and Maigero Abdullahi (26), were taken into custody for their alleged involvement in the tragic death of Bello.
The State Commissioner of Police, CP Shawulu E. Danmamman, revealed the arrest at a press briefing on January 27, 2025, at the police headquarters in Minna. According to the Commissioner, the victim was last seen alive on December 8, 2024, at a vigilante checkpoint while riding his motorcycle towards Rijau, carrying around N940,000 in cash.
Sadly, Bello’s lifeless body was discovered on January 13, 2025, in a nearby bush, not far from the vigilante checkpoint. On January 16, 2025, police operatives from the Kontagora Area Command apprehended the three suspects—Habibu Usman, Tanko Abara, and Maigero Abdullahi—at Tunga-Galadima village, located near Rijau.
The suspects are currently being investigated for their suspected involvement in the homicide of Mohammed Bello.
This case continues to unfold as authorities seek justice for the victim.
