Governor Gboyega Oyetola of Osun State said governors will do everything they can to strengthen Amotekun during a condolence visit to his Ondo State counterpart, Rotimi Akeredolu, on Sunday.
They will assist the security architecture and safeguard everyone's safety, he said.
Last Sunday, gunmen assaulted St. Francis Catholic Church in Owo, Ondo State, killing worshipers and injuring numerous others.
Oyetola described the act as cruel, brutal, and terrible during his visit to Akeredolu at Government House Akure.
To curb the future incidence of any of the sates in the southwest, Oyetola noted that no effort would be spared to continue to strengthen the security architecture in the region.
In his words, “The incident has further shown that it is imperative to interrogate the security architecture of our zone in this regard." It is not a doubt that these people (bandits and terrorists) are with us, and no effort must be spared to secure our people and our region.
“We will not relent." We will do everything to strengthen Amotekun, support the security architecture and ensure the safety of all.
“Though we had a meeting on this, I felt it was also necessary for me to come here so as to identify with our people,” Oyetola said.
