Kayode Egbetokun has been named as the new acting inspector general of police by vice president Kashim Shettima.

On Tuesday, Shettima conducted a brief ceremony in his office at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

The newly appointed acting IGP had previously held the position of Lagos State Commissioner of Police.

Senior government officials, including Senator George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), were present at the event, and Shettima received assistance from Egbetokun's wife with the decoration.
