William Troost-Ekong, the vice captain of the Super Eagles, says the team is committed to finishing strong as they prepare to compete in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

On Sunday (today), the three-time African champions will play Sao Tome and Principe in their last qualifying match at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo.

Jose Peseiro’s men have already booked a place in Cote d’Ivoire 2023 and sit atop Group A with 12 points from five games.

William Troost-EKong suggested that the Super Eagles want to put on a good show for their supporters despite the game's lack of significance.

“We are taking the game seriously and thinking about the fact that we have already qualified for the World Cup,” the vice captain told a press conference in Uyo.
“If you see the boys in training, everyone has worked really hard, not thinking about whether we have qualified or not.
“We want to make the fans happy by putting up a good performance on Sunday. Uyo has always been a good ground for us. We had a good run during the 2018 World Cup qualifiers here.
“You can be sure we will do our best to make Nigerians proud.”
